BRING YOUR V-TWIN AND LETS GO!

The V-Twin Nationals is a bracket racing and grudge match event. As long as you have a v-twin engine and a chain/belt guard you are good to go.

ET BRACKET RACING 101

ET bracket racing each contestant declares their dial-in. A dial-in is the contestants estimate of elapsed time they believe their bike takes to go from the starting line to the finish line. A bracket race, as it is commonly called cancels, out the advantage that a quicker bike has in getting to the finish line first. Thus making it a riders race. Example: if Bike #1 has a 12 second dial-in and bike #2 has a 14 second dial-in, bike #2’s side of the Christmas Tree will come down 2 seconds quicker than bike #1. The racer that leaves the starting line the quickest and makes a pass closest to his dial-in is the winner. When a bike goes quicker than its dial-in they are disqualified. Dial-ins are declared to 1/100th of a second. Upon making the 1/8 mile run you will stop at the time slip booth and pick up your computer printed time slip. The time slip will contain the data (dial-in, reaction, 60ft, 330ft & 660ft times, MPH & ET) for you & your competitors race. Reaction time is measured from when the green light comes on, on the Christmas tree and when the front tire reconnects to the starting line guard beam. During class eliminations the computers time slip shows the winner of the race which is determined to the 1/1000th of the second at the finish line. ET bracket classes will also show breakout. Breakout is when a racer goes quicker than his dial in. In the case of a double break out the racer that broke out by the least is declared the winner. The time slip also shows how much the racer won or lost by.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The V-Twin Open class is an "open comp style" class that is designed for any year, any model V-Twin Harley Davidson. It will be run on a .500 Split Pro Tree. The class will run on an Open Comp format with a .05 breakout.

EXPLANATION

Racer will get up to 3 qualifying passes depending on event time constraints. 1 or 2 qualifying passes will be at the discretion of the race director due to time constraints, weather delays, oil downs, etc. The racers fastest qualifying pass (heads up) minus .05 (1/8 mile) seconds will set their index for the entire event. Example: racers fastest qualifying pass is 6.80, the index (dial in) will be set at 6. 75 for eliminations. Standard breakout rules apply. In this case 6. 7 499 would constitute a breakout. Competitor cannot change their index during eliminations. Once all indexes are set, the race will be run on a .400 split pro tree, handicap start similar to an E.T. Race. The spirit of the class is to reduce the amount of round wins by break out or red light. There are basically no other rules other than run what ya brung, and have fun.

QUALIFYING, LADDER TYPE AND TREE

All Run, Sportsman Ladder, Pro .400 Tree, Handicap Start. Courtesy Stage. Laddered first round, paired according to qualifying positions, or chip draw, and then advance to eliminations. The class can be paired by positive reaction time in the qualifying sessions or chip draw. Positive reaction time (r/t) closest to ".000" based on a Pro .400 Tree. ".000" is considered perfect. Any negative r/t (-.001, -1.231, etc.) will be placed at the bottom of the qualifying ladder, the more negative the r/t is, the farther down the ladder the run will be placed. For cases in which identical reaction times are made, qualifying position will be based on a first come first served: the first occurring r/t will be placed #1, the second occurrence of said r/t will be placed #2, and so on. If weather has caused the loss of one or more rounds of qualifying sessions, any entrants not qualified will be required to choose an index of their choice. Competitors who choose their index will not receive qualifying points. Competitors will compete with their qualifying / chosen index through eliminations.
